Author Jane Austen
So begins Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen's witty comedy of manners--one of the most popular novels of all time--that features splendidly civilized sparring between the proud Mr. Darcy and the prejudiced Elizabeth Bennet as they play out their spirited courtship in a series of eighteenth-century drawing-room intrigues.
The two main characters are Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. Both of the protagonists are guilty of judging each other based off of first appearances and both have deep-seated personal prejudices that seem to constantly impede our star crossed lovers. The main question they must answer is will they be able to put their pride aside in order to see the love that is right in front of their eyes or will their pride keep them apart?
This novel had me intrigued from the first chapter and I could not put the book down. I went through every range of emotion imaginable as the characters interacted with each other. There were times that I had to reread certain parts of the novel due to the vocabulary and dialect, but that was mainly because I was trying to read to fast and ended up not understanding what just happened. It was very easy to get lost in that time period and I felt like I was actually right there in each scene with the characters.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone! It is well worth the read and reread.
