The Ghost Files Review
Not only does the cover pull you in…but the first page does as well. I couldn’t put it down, and I can't wait to read the second and third book as well. Apryl is a great suspense writer, and she is good at plot twists….(can’t give too much away). I would have to say this is more of a suspense book rather than a horror book. It just keeps you guessing.
Baker’s take on ghosts is pretty normal…its hard stray from what everybody knows. Her ghosts are typical, but they are creepy. Her take on the Reaper legend is pretty creative. I like that she also talked about wraiths in the story! It isn’t just about the ghosties.
Mattie is such a great character! She is tough, caring, courageous and daring. I also like that Mattie knows who she is as a person, and I feel like I can relate to her character (we have a lot of the same qualities). I found that I enjoyed the fact that Mattie handles her problems in a very teenage way. She just does, and worries about the consequence later. Although I am still kind of unsure of Officer Dan’s intentions, I like him as well. I love the banter between the two characters and the loyalty that Officer Dan offers Mattie. He really completes the story; I enjoyed the fact that he was so young and its easier for Mattie to trust him and his boyish good looks. Overall this books was a great read, and I can’t wait to review the next two for you! I give this book 5 ghostly stars!
