Amy M.'s Review
This book brought out all my emotions, from excited to scared to sad and then quickly back through all of them. I had a very hard time starting the book because of the opening chapter that had me presume this book was not going to be what I assumed it would be about. To me it read like a child’s fairy tale book and I wasn’t looking to read a fairy tale. Once I was able to read again I was hoping this book would be more than what I was expecting so I decided to keep reading. After I met Cara and then Lucan I fell in love. My heart jumped at the possibility of love. The show of protectiveness and care he had for Cara when he saved her and brought her to the castle was so excited and definitely had me hooked from that point. Although his primeval god was controlled he never brought that side of him out until the moment he feared for Cara’s life. A battle between Lucan and Cara’s desires and Lucan trying to do the right thing, as he is an immortal and Cara is a mortal pained Lucan more than he was willing to express. Not only were they battling a war within themselves but also a battle with Deirdre, her monsters, and others like the brothers. Deirdre wanted total dominance over everything and she desired Cara for reasons the brothers later found out.
Such a heart stopping, stomach aching, and mind blowing book I had the pleasure to read. Although I had my doubts when first reading this book, I was excited to find out my assumptions were wrong and I would highly recommend this book for anyone to read! I give it a 4.5 stars for the paranormal romance by Donna Grant and I am excited to read the next book in the Dark Sword Series!
