Griffin and Erin Pearce had the perfect life. With the perfect house. And the perfect jobs.
What they didn’t have was the perfect baby.
Skylar never counted on meeting Erin.
She never imagined finding this wonderful best friend who would change the way she looked at the world.
And she certainly never dreamed of falling in love with her best friend’s husband.
Especially while being their surrogate.
She also never counted on fate ripping everything away from her.
A story about unconditional love, heartbreaking loss, and undying friendship.
This is a standalone novel that is the second in a series following three sisters.
Skylar was a good time girl that barely got to know a guy’s name before she left him in his bed. Until one night she hits rock bottom, determined to change her life she chooses to do something selfless. After deciding to give up men and booze she decides to be a surrogate. Since she has never had a child of her own she has to go about the whole surrogate thing unconventionally. What she never expected was to find a new best friend and fall in love with her husband too.
Griffin and Erin were high school sweethearts. Erin is not able to have her own baby and is not considered a good candidature for adoption so they never though they would have a child at all, until Skylar.
Skylar meets Erin and Griffin and agrees to be their surrogate. She instantly bonds with Erin and she is instantly attracted to Griffin.
“You know I love you, right, Erin? You know I’d do anything for you and I want to do this. I really do. I just need to know I’m doing it for the right reasons.”
Skylar really evolves in this story but not so much that it is a complete surprise. You just know that she is a good person deep down and she just had to figure it out for herself. She does this with the love and support of her best friend Erin. Even though Skylar is in love with Griffin she would never betray Erin by acting on these feeling. Skylar experiences loss and learns to love in more ways than one. She finally gets to her true self only to lose her other half.
After tragedy strikes everyone is left to clean up the pieces and figure out what is the truth and what has been planted by someone they love. Can they find a way to get to happy again?
“Why do you always have such an issue with me saying fuck? What’s your problem?” He blows out a long breath, “My problem is that it makes me want you, okay? When you talk like that, all I want to do is throw you down and screw the hell out of you.”
The heartfelt and unconventional relationship between these three people is beautiful. The author writes the story beautifully and makes you feel every emotion that Erin, Griffin and Skylar are going through. I laughed, cried, and swore at the unfairness in it all.
The epilogue will leave you feeling good about it all and makes you realize that sometimes Fate has its own agenda.
I know I haven’t given much away on my review and that was by design, it would ruin the story to give too many details.
Have the tissues ready and be prepared to fall in love with all three of these remarkable characters. One last thing…READ THIS BOOK!
