Life can change in the blink of an eye. One moment, Lily Preston is trapped in a loveless marriage. In a split second she is free, but at what cost? Her mundane life is set into a free fall of tragedy and terror. Her husband maybe out of her life, but he left a storm of collateral damage behind and the burden is on Lily to sort it out.
Fate connects Lily with Gavin Edwards, a charmingly handsome British gentleman that has been drawn into her tangled circumstance. Gavin is everything Lily’s husband wasn’t and gives her hope that love really does exist. Gavin wants nothing more than to sweep Lily up and carry her off into the sunset, far away from the devastation left behind by her husband. Gavin has been the first breath of fresh air in her life, but she isn’t looking to be saved. She needs to clean up her husband’s mess and find a way to save herself in the process.
Does she throw caution to the wind and open her heart? Or listen to her head that tells her and go it alone until she’s found herself again?
My Honest Review:
I am so in awe! This is this authors first book! I absolutely loved this book. I was gifted this book in exchange for my review. I am so honored that I was allowed to read this book and give my review.
I could not believe how Gavin and Lily met. This title was so fitting! At first, Gavin and Lily thought what they were feeling was just grief from the situation they ended up in. It took them just a little while to admit there was some sort of real connection between them.
Let me just say, I loved the nickname for Lily's husband give to him by her best friend! Her husband was a piece of work. The mess that Lily ends up in at his hands is just beyond me. Lily would probably kill him if she could get her hands on him! That's a laugh! Lily is stronger than she gives herself credit for. What she works her way through is more than any one person should ever have to handle in one lifetime!
I love her friend Em. I think everyone needs a friend like Em to help keep you in check; through good times and bad. That one friend that isn't afraid to call you on your crap and not care how you feel about it.
Then there's Gavin. I have a "thing" for the English accent so I crack up every time Lily asks him to repeat words! Gavin finds himself tangled in Lily's mess in a most unfortunate way and he completely understands Lily. It is almost scary how in-tune he is with Lily. But what a hot, sexy man full of worldly life experiences.
I could have just screamed at Lily for being so stubborn. I relate to her so much. I have to fix things, handle them on my own. It would be so easy to let a man just sweep you away, but reality always has a way of catching up with you. So. just handle things and move on! Poor Lily, she couldn't get past one emergency before the next blew up. Drowning would have been pleasant at some point, but still wouldn't solve anything!
This is such a great book. I just had to power through and find out how things worked out.
