Synopsis

The smoke from the fire burned her eyes, its heat caressed her skin and the taste of fear choked her. She was going to burn just as her ancestor did all those centuries ago in New Salem Village. How could she have been so wrong about everything?
Cassie Jayne Bishop grew up the only non-believer in town of Coven. When a stranger comes to the sleepy town of New Salem, everything she thought was true unraveled around her. Ethan made her question everything, even her sister’s death. Clues start to pile up and Cassie is determined to find out if the Coven was the real reason her sister died.
What she uncovers terrifies her to the very depths of her soul....
Review for The Promise
This is the second book I have read that was written by Apryl Baker…and I love her stuff! I will be reading and reviewing everything I can get my hands on that she has written.
The Promise starts out kind of slow, but that really helps build up the suspense so just keep going! This book will have you asking so many questions and worrying that Apryl won’t be ale to answer them all, but she does. For instance…Is Ethan good or bad? (I won’t tell). Is CJ falling for the right boy? Will CJ find out what really happened to her sister (was her mom in on it)? Why is her dad so crazy? Why is everyone so hush, hush? There are more questions throughout the book, and they will all be answered. I liked how Ms. Baker answers all of the questions I had at at the end of the story. But I feel like it ended too good to be true.
I liked CJ’s character. She has spunk and attitude. She is also very feisty, don’t mess with her or her bestie...MJ. Although she is a strong character…I didn’t like how easily she fell for M&M without even knowing him and knowing that he was lying to her. Although she is flawed like any teenage girl, I liked that even though the entire town is a part of the Coven, she holds to true to her word and refuses to believe in the unexplainable.
I rate this book 4.5 stars!
