Vegas is a blur of cocktails and blackjack, and in the middle of it all she meets Mack, a real-life cowboy with a winning hand and an irresistible body. They get lucky in the casino and luckier back at the hotel, a hot night of passion that was definitely not part of Andie’s life plan.
By dawn Mack is gone and all she has to remember their one-night romance is a hangover and a pile of casino chips. Or so she thinks…
So, Andie is a lawyer, a responsible, mature - boring lawyer. She lives by a "life plan". She knows what kind of man she needs to date and marry and have two kids, she has the right job, and she'll make partner before she's thirty. Mack is a cowboy, who is responsible for his family's ranch, handsome, and stern. They weren't supposed to meet. But at the insistence of their friends and family, and for two very different reasons, they both end up in Vegas. When they meet - it's like instant sparks. Both are drinking and the next thing Andie remembers is waking up in her room with her friends.
Two years later, while she planning her wedding to her boring fiance, she learns that she's already married - to Mack! Oh, I love this book. It's like uptown meets rancher, and he's been waiting two long years for her to show up. She wants an annulment or a divorce, but Mack doesn't live by society's rules. He lives by his family motto - Shine, Not Burn. She's his wife, and he's bound and determine to keep her.
I laughed with this book. The characters where amazing. And the romance was off the charts. The shower scene was my favorite, and the main reason I wanted to read this book again. Shine, Not Burn was the first Elle Casey book I read, but it definitely won't be my last.
