...the muscular, tatted bad-boy who would soon become my obsession.
He was broken, lost, and voiceless ... just like me.
His eyes smoldered me with one look.
His touch awakened the woman inside me.
And through his lips, his perfect, plush, kissable lips, he drew out the inspiration deep in my soul I did not know was there.
I needed to believe that he could save me. I wanted him to help me find my voice at last ... the voice that would set me apart from my tragically perfect family, the voice that would finally break me free ...
If only he could hear a word of it.
The College Obsession Romance series centers around a group of friends and the relationships they form during their time at a small-town Texas school. They are angsty, steamy new adult novels with HEAs and NO cheating. Although they are obsession-themed romances, there are no stalkers or psychos!
Dessie is trying to make her own way in college and on the stage, away from the bright lights of New York where her parents and sister are the stars. Does she want to shine? Yes, but she wants to do it on her own. Clayton is a theater lighting student. He's gorgeous, quiet, and as Dessie learns, is deaf. He doesn't want anything to do romance. He just wants to stay on track and finish school. But when Dessie pushes her way into his life, he finds that he just can't ignore her.
Daryl Banner did an outstanding job of describing the theater world, as well as the difficulties in communicating for someone who is deaf. Dessie and Clayton's characters pushed each other to be heard.
I usually do not read the YA or College age books. They don't appeal to me, mostly because of my age. But Daryl Banner is an excellent writer and I just couldn't stop reading. This book was so good, that I gifted it to our YA reviewer here. I can't wait for the next story in this new series.
