One lie can destroy everything…
After enduring years of manipulation and an immeasurable amount of loss, Charlotte Kelly makes one last ditch effort to change her life and try to find happiness again. She knows she’ll see him when she moves back to Wisconsin. She’s planning on it, the connection she still feels to him after all these years is undeniable. But one lie tore them apart years ago, and she’s afraid some mistakes can’t be forgiven.
Travis Parker doesn’t like liars. When he was younger, lies burned him in a bad way. It only took one summer with Charlotte’s innocence to know that she was it for him. When he thought he finally had something to look forward to, one misguided lie shattered everything he believed. Now, Char’s back, but she’s not the same girl he once knew.

Make Me Forget by Anna Brooks was a lot more book than I was originally giving it credit. Most of the time, I like to go into books blind, I like the surprise of the adventure I'm getting myself into. I look at the genre and make sure it's not one of the my, "please don't make me read this" subjects, and I'm good to go, especially when I'm asked to review a book. I don't want to know what anyone else thinks, I don't want to go in with any preconceived notions that I'm going to love or hate a book.
Starting out this book seemed like your sweet, happy, go lucky romance, I like those. Charlotte is 17, visiting her cousins on summer vacation, meets a guy and falls madly in love. Simple easy romance, right! Books like that are a dime a dozen easy reads. Make Me Forget isn't that book, this book has depth and gets in your head a little.
Then Charlotte goes back home finishes her high schol year. She goes through some major trauma (issues), in a short period of time. Things that really would send any person over the edge and she become very vulnerable. When you become vulnerable, you can't think straight, you are an open target for people to take advantage of you. She becomes completely broken.
Travis was the guy Char meet that summer, and after one that one summer he knew that she was "the one" for him. He had be burned before and was still living with the grief that it left behind. Char made him want to move out of that grief and get on with his life. He wanted to make something of himself, for her. He really was the sweetest guy and made me swoon. I want him for myself but Char is who needs him in this book.
You will have to buy the book to find out more but believe me, this is money well spent. I'm always looking for something a little different in my romance books. I for one get tired of the billionaires, MC, Rock Stars etc... This book really fit the bill! I will end out reading this book again and it is defiantly on my list for favorites January 2015. I give this book 5 stars.
Meet Anna Brooks
Recently, I decided to pick up my pen (read: laptop) and write again. I have a passion for romance novels, and when I'm not writing one, I'm reading one.
Currently, I'm working on the next book in the It's Kind Of Personal series, along with another stand alone novel, and a couple short stories for anthologies.
