This book to me was about finding yourself through the chaos that is life. Emi is a recent high school graduate who has landed an intern job in the movie business doing set designs. This is something that she feels very passionately about and is obviously very good at. Emi is a lesbian and has been in an on and off again relationship with a co-worker. Emi is the epitome of a romantic. She sees and feels things on this entirely different level than the average person would. She understands what it's like to portray the illusion of love on a screen and to get everything just right, but in real love life and love can be so messy. She gets it. She knows that things are never as neat and organized as they feel in a movie. In this book we get to see Emi evolve into this amazing woman. She finds love and knows what it's like to feel loss. This book will take your emotions to new heights. While this book is about love and truth, it is also about a girl who finds herself. This book isn't about girls coming out to the world, it isn't about finding acceptance, it's about so much more. Chaos can be beautiful.
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.
But when she and her best friend, Charlotte, discover a mysterious letter at the estate sale of a Hollywood film legend, Emi must move beyond the walls of her carefully crafted world to chase down the loose ends of a movie icon’s hidden life, leading her to uncover a decades’ old secret and the potential for something truly epic: love.
