I cannot believe it is over! I FLOVE this series "HARD"!

Nick Rixey is mine ladies so back the f*** off.

Hard Ever After was a great addition to the saga that is the Hard Ink series. It is like the cherry on top of your favorite ice cream sundae. Ms. Kaye was able to bring us full circle and tie up all the loose ends and even introduce her next series (sort of) all in one 96 page epilogue.

Life is good for the gang at Hard Ink now that the guys have been cleared and they are starting their own security company. With everything right in the world again Nick proposes to Becca in a unforgetable fashion. With her by his side his live is complete.

Of course everything is not all sunshine and lollipops as Becca and Nick prepare for the next step of their lives together. There is danger lurking from the past that no one saw coming.
Nick and Becca have endured so much, how are they going to deal with this new threat after they all thought it was safe to resume "regular" life? Thankfully Becca and Nick have what it takes to get through a crisis and they also have the rest of the gang there to help Nick and Becca's big day and keep Becca safe.

I could not have asked better outcome. I am sad to these characters go, but it is good to see them all in a good place.

Luckily I can reread these books anytime I feel the need for danger and seduction.

I would give this novella 10 stars if I could!

Synopsis

Saints Protection & Investigation
A private investigation business, pulling together men from the CIA, FBI, ATF, DEA, Border Patrol, SEALs, and police, devoted to the missions that no one else wanted or could solve.

Jude Stedson was a SEAL…at least until an injury while on a mission left him with an honorable medical discharge and no direction as to what to do next. He even relegated his girlfriend to friend status until he could decide what he wanted to do with a life that had been dedicated to the SEALS.

Sabrina Taggart loved the man…not the title. But until she could prove that their love would continue, she took the role of friend…just to stay close.

When a con artist set his sights on her family, Jude stepped in, willing to work with her cousin, a member of the Saints P&I. Keeping Sabrina safe gave him a new mission. Finding a new mission gave him purpose. When her life was threatened, Jude knew that nothing would stop him from saving her…or loving her.

Can he prove that he has what it takes to be a Saint?

Liz's Review

A SEAL will always be a SEAL.  You don't wake up one day, after a career ending injury, and decide you aren't a SEAL anymore.  Being a SEAL is what you are,in your blood and nothing changes that.  When Jude is faced with the life-altering realization that his world has changed, he has to figure out what to do.  Surviving was a given, but moving forward was so daunting.  Jude had no clue who he was now!

Sabrina was there for Jude every step of the way.  Even when Jude resisted her at every turn.  Sabrina was a stubborn and independent young lady.  She knew that Jude was everything she wanted and she wasn't giving up.  Sabrina had dreams and she was sure fitting Jude in to those dreams was right.

When Sabrina's grandmother finds herself in the middle of a situation with a slick tongued man promising profitable returns, Sabrina and Jude have to pull together to figure out what her grandmother is involved in.

A slick con artist, a group of gullible widowers, the Russian mob and a whole lot of testosterone fueled men all make for a volatile standoff.  Will everyone walk away unscathed?  Will Jude and Sabrina finally decide to move forward together?

This is a well-written story about finding yourself and new beginnings.  Life holds so many possibilities and you have to grab them and make them a reality.  Without family and friends, nothing else matters!                      - L.T.

Ex-military man, Lynx Anders has one surefire weapon that destroys all of his pain and suffering--SEX.
Lots of raw, unattached, uninhibited sex.
Sure, it doesn't cure him of all that he's seen--all that he's done in combat, but it helps--for the time being.

But when he has one night of unadulterated, mind-blowing passion with Sarah Linscum, Lynx realizes that one night is not enough--will never be enough.

Her upbeat and bubbly exterior broke through his tough-guy armor, and he wants more. Bound and determined to uncover why Sarah's eyes mirror his own in pain and despair, Lynx sets out to make them shine as bright as her.

As they both know, it takes "just one moment" to change everything.
Together, can they heal from the demons that chase them in their dreams and find a way to not only heal…but love?

Amy M.'s Review

Just One Moment is romantic and frustrating at times love story between two people who believed in distancing themselves from love. Sarah Linscum is a woman who grew up in Minnesota but when she went to college moved to Chicago. She had a devastating event happen to her during high school, which later helped push her along to make the move away from her hometown. Sarah who not only works at a hotel as an event planner but also has a non-profit organization based out of Minnesota. She goes on day to day with a huge weight on her shoulders, which will be shifted to be a little lighter when a moment happens between two people who think they want the same things from each other.

Lynx Anders is an ex-military at a boxing match when he meets a young woman that later turns his world around. Lynx has always distance himself from everyone else because what he saw during the war, no one could understand, so he thought. Sarah and Lynx thought they could have one night to help dull any pain either of them had with incredible sex and walk away.

I have honestly read some pretty hot sex scenes but reading this book was very hot! The way they tried to use each other for sex and not becoming attached was a little something I was curious to see if it could happen. Reading about Sarah’s past was quite unsettling when I thought about my day to day actions that had me making a promise to myself about my own actions. As for Lynx and what he went through in the military and how he grew in the story makes me want to reread this book over and over.

This book has some very heavy details about their past and weighed heavy on my heart reading and will definitely be reading more from this author. I missed out on the books before this one and I will now be keeping watch for more from Stacey Lynn. I give 5 stars to Just One Moment by Stacey Lynn for a very steamy and emotional read.

Synopsis

Saints Protection & Investigation
A private investigation business, pulling together men from the CIA, FBI, ATF, DEA, Border Patrol, SEALs, and police, devoted to the missions that no one else wanted or could solve.

Cam Perez left his juvenile deliquent years behind to become an undercover detective and then accepted a job with Saints Protection & Investigations. When a friend’s sister, a Red Cross nurse, was kidnapped, Cam eagerly stepped up to take on the rescue mission. The right man for the job, he was focused on what needed to be done…until he lay eyes on her. And then not only saving her life but winning her heart became the new mission.

Miriam Delaro had become discontent in her hospital job, so the chance to go to Mexico to work for the Red Cross when an earthquake struck was the perfect career change. Then she and three other nurses were kidnapped by a drug cartel, who needed their services to aid the cartel’s wounded. She tended the ill by day, but at night prayed for a deliverer, wondering if escape was possible. Then he came…disguised as a lowly, wounded worker.

Their meeting was only the beginning. Having to escape the guards, travel by canoe in a storm, and cross miles of perilous Mexican cartel country to get to the ocean where the Saints could picked them up was their goal. Falling in love was their reward.

****Due to scenes of an explicit sexual nature and language that some consider crude, please be warned - for 18+ only! If you do not like alphas with heart who fall instantly in love with strong female characters while dealing with real life issues...again be warned!!*****

Donya's Review

This is the second book I've read by Maryann Jordan, and it happens to be the second book in her Saints Protection Series. And she is quickly becoming my "go-to-read author for adventure." Maryann's series follows the members of an elite protection agency - all ex-military or government agency - working "outside" the normal channels.

This book centers on sending one of their members, Cam, undercover on a search and rescue mission to locate and recover the sister of friend. As a nurse working with the Red Cross in Mexico, Miriam, had no idea that her skills as a nurse would considered a valuable commodity to a drug kingpin. Now she's trapped and praying that somehow her brother will come and save her.

Cam has to try and get her and escape through a hurricane force storm. This book was full of heart-stopping thrills and sexual steam. Cam was not only an Alpha character but a gentle giant as well. I could not put this book down until the very end.

I've always loved reading Kat Martin's books for their adventure and excitement, but I think I've found a new author that is just as good. 5-stars for Maryann Jordan's Healing Love.

Synopsis

Jack Bryant left the Special Forces to begin his private investigation business.  Pulling together like-minded men from the CIA, FBI, ATF, DEA, Border Patrol, SEALs, and police, they were devoted to the missions that no one else wanted or could solve.
When the Campus Killer strikes again, Jack’s team is tasked by the Governor to find the killer, using whatever means they can.
While following the trail of the serial killer, he becomes entangled in the life of the beautiful woman living next to his property.
Bethany Bridwell moved in with her grandmother to take over running Mountville Cabin Rentals.  She had no time for the handsome, mysterious man living next door who continued to intrude into her life...and her thoughts.
Jack battled his growing feelings for Bethany, worried his life would not allow for the white-picket-fence world she should have.  But he was unable to stay away.
When the trail of the Campus Killer strikes close to home, can Jack protect Bethany long enough to give her the future she deserves?

Donya's Review

Serial Love is Maryann Jordan newest series. And ooohhh...I'm in love. Alpha men are all around. Private investigators, all from different agencies. Brought together by Jack Bryant, they handle the cases no one else can. Jack's agency, located within his house, is hidden from public view. He's researched all of the his neighbors so there shouldn't be any surprises. Until a little old lady stumbles onto his property and his alarms don't detect her. But what is more surprising is the beautiful young woman who comes running through the brush willing to take on all of the huge men surrounding the older woman.

Bethany Bridwell isn't like any woman he's ever known. She protective and smart and loyal; and she has him thinking of white picket fences. Something he can't think of having, not with his job.

I loved this book. This was one of the first Maryann Jordan books I've ever read, but now I have to go back and read her previous series - The Alvarez Security Series. This is a standalone novel. Although the story shows Jack and Bethany, Maryann does a fantastic job of not only incorporating the case they are working on, but also giving enough time to spark interest in the other members of the Saints Protection and Investigations. I'm giving the beginning of this new series a solid 5-stars!

Former Marine Captain Brett Brennan loves a good practical joke—when he’s the prankster not the prankee. *Book provided in exchange for honest review*

*As stated in the header, this is a sequel. It is a proper standalone however for the full backstory read Cowboy Fiancé http://amzn.to/1P4yxIT*

What does a former Marine do when she is faced with an overbearing Father and his "good" intention? If you are Trisha Jennings, you lie and say you are engaged to a man that can hold his own against your father, her friend and former CO Brett Brennan.

When Brett Brennan finds himself in a situation that he thinks is a practical joke orchastrated by his brother Finn, he rolls with punches. He loves a good practical joke, especially when it involves his brother. But he is not prepared for the consequences of this fake engagment. What starts a joke, turns into much, much more.

I liked that this was a fast paced love affair between two people who knew each other well. Friends to lovers books have always appealed to me and this one hits all the its mark. There is passion, there is angst in the form of a fake engagement but most importantly there is a heroine that is broken yet strong and takes no crap from anyone, except maybe her dad but he means no harm he just loves his daughter.

Brett cannot have been more sexy and he takes his time coming to terms with his feelings, since he had not clue what he was feeling.

There is a PTSD storyline that runs the whole story, Trisha is in denial and Brett tries to help her heal.

I recommend this as a beach read or a rainy afternoon reas. I read it in one sitting, There is a HEA and you close the book feeling satisfied where you leave the story, There is a set up for the next book and I can't wait for Liam and Stacy's story.

Dana Volney writes an engaging and fast paced suspense novel sprinkled with a touch of sensuality. Nothing peaks my interest more than a suspenseful romance and the best part of this one is the female lead is the strong leader of a security firm.
Strong independent Winter Wyn is funny and stubborn but also she is smart and knows her stuff. She is hired to protect Eliam Prince when he ousts his stepfather from power in his family company. Eliam thinks nothing more will happen than his step father throwing a tantrum but soon finds out how wrong he is.
Multiple attempts on Eliam's life put not only Eliam in mortal danger but Winter and her team as well.
Being in close proximity to Eliam has awaken some desires in Winter that she thought were long gone and as for Eliam he is falling fast but I think he feels slightly emasculated by Winter.
They Both fight their feeling and they hem and haw a lot. Especially Winter, who makes it a rule not to get involved with her clients. I would have loved to see her make a decision and stick to it.
Eliam seemed to be too pigheaded for his own wellbeing, he was undermining Winter at each turn and put himself in danger in doing so.  It’s a good thing Winter was smart and could handle herself because she needed lots of help when it came to Eliam.
An really fun and quick read if you don’t whip you ereader across the room when one or both of the main characters do something stupid. Even with that I enjoyed it completely. There were some unanswered questions and I assuming since this is a series they will be answered in the next installment.
Recommended for the lovers of a fast paced suspense romance.

Donya's Review

I went into this book blind. All that I knew was the tagline - "Things are not always what they seem" - and THAT is the best way to describe this book.

Ice, is the President of the Regulators MC. He's a widower trying to raise a teenage daughter. Morgan is a prim and proper banker. Their worlds collide when Ice's daughter, Brooke, becomes best friends with Morgan's sister, Madyson - and when I say collide, I mean BOOM! Personalities clash. But when Madyson disappears, and Morgan begins her own investigation, Ice steps in hell bent on finding Madyson and taking Morgan as his own.

I expected the same type of MC book. It wasn't. I can't give too much away, except to say when, WHEN is book two coming out! I'm giving this book 5 stars!!

 Review

Harper and Rafe don't meet under ideal circumstances and by no means should be attracted to each other. Harper is an ATF agent that is kidnapped by a drug lord named Carlos in Colombia and Rafe is his "Segundo" or "Second".  Harper senses that there is more than meets the eye but trusts no one, especially the "Segundo" that held her at gunpoint.

Harper is an explosives expert and is threatened with the harm to her ATF team if she does not cooperate with and follow the orders that the Carlos has issued, to build him a bomb. A VERY dangerous one at that.

Rafe the ex-Navy Seal and Carlos the Colombian drug lord have history, one that makes Carlos trust Rafe and never doubt his loyalty making Rafe the perfect candidate to be recruited by the CIA to be a double agent, when his school friend started his nefarious and no longer purely humanitarian dealings. Carlos may have started off trying to help his country become a more beautiful place but his ambitions and increased paranoia have made him a dangerous man.

From the beginning, Rafe feels the need to protect Harper. She feels drawn to him, something she is not familiar with. Harper uses men until she is done then boots them from her bed, Rafe is a gentlemen that does not love and leave em.

The story is fast paced and there is an element of danger throughout the book. Harper and Rafe eventually can no longer fight their attraction and give in to those feelings. But those feelings are confused and contradictory. They cannot believe they feel the way they do, but they also can not help themselves.

Although Harper is a a damaged character she is not weak, she knows what she wants and takes it. She is not used to feeling at all. She also has a rule "No sex during a mission". Rafe has a type of woman and Harper is it. He wants her but he is not willing to go there again. Both are afraid of heartache that love pretty much guarantees but they can have a fling and use it a pretense to keep Harper safe. And keep feelings out of it, right?

I liked the suspense and thrill I got reading this book. You are on the edge of your seat from the beginning. It is also apparent that the author has a lot experience with the military. She writes almost like she lived the life.

I would have like the characters to have had more time to develop their relationship so that is was not so much of a tennis match of feelings. The sex scenes were tastefully done and not too frequent and that was okay with me because there was enough and the rest of the story was actually very enjoyable.

If you are looking for a steamy, suspense thriller, this book is perfect for you.

I give it:

Five dishonored soldiers.
Former Special Forces.
One last mission.
These are the men of Hard Ink.

Beckett Murda hates to dwell on the past. But his investigation into the ambush that killed half his Special Forces team and ended his Army career gives him little choice. Just when his team learns how powerful their enemies are, hard-ass Beckett encounters the biggest complication yet—seductive, feisty Katherine Rixey.

A tough, stubborn prosecutor, Kat visits her brothers’ Hard Ink Tattoo following a bad break-up—and finds herself staring down the barrel of a stranger’s gun. Beckett is hard-bodied and sexy as hell, but he’s also the most infuriating man ever. Worse, Kat’s brothers are at war with criminals her office is investigating. When Kat joins the fight, she lands straight in Beckett’s sights—and his arms. Not to mention their enemies’ crosshairs.

Now Beckett and Kat must set aside their differences to work together, because the only thing sweeter than justice is finding love and never letting go.

Review:

Five word that describe this series to me: Phenomenal, breathtaking, heart stopping, thrill ride!

The series started when this group of former soldiers came together to clear false charges made against their unit, but it morphed into this incredible journey of love, friendship, and redemption.

Hard to Let Go is a fast-paced, action-packed thriller, only now readers are finally getting answers to a number of questions as everything comes to a head with protagonists, Beckett Murda and Kat Rixey at the forefront. Questions are answered, conspiracies are uncovered and justice finally prevails but not before more blood is shed and secrets are revealed.

Murda is a man that is alive but is not living. He is dealing with scars that are deeper than his company’s ambush. He is going day by day in cloud of numbness and keeping everyone out. That is until he meets Kat Rixey. For the first time he feels that maybe there is something worth living for.

Kat is an independent attorney for the Justice department that is loyal to her brothers and is willing to help them and their cause not matter the personal cost. She is attracted to Murda but cannot get a read on him to see if he is different than other jerks she has dated in the past.

Both Murda and Kat have secrets that have to come to light before they can move forward. They also have chemistry that is off the charts and once they finally give into their simmering passion they have to decide if they can trust one another to move forward because they both are finding hard to let go.

What I love most about the Hard Ink series the writing style. It is a told in a narrative that follows a new pair of love interests with each book.  This ensures that you never miss what is happening with the other couples as you embark on the newest journey. I will miss this series HARD but luckily for me they are just are just a reread away.

It is with a heavy heart I say a bittersweet goodbye to the gang at Hard Ink.  Thank you, Laura Kaye for hours and hours of exciting reading. I highly recommend you read the ENTIRE SERIES! (Links below)
