Lucky Coalson is one fine hot totty! He will surly get you fired up for Maggie Adams next installment in her Tempered Steel series. Lucky is a man on a mission but he doesn’t think a fun can hurt either.
Lucky Coalson is one of the younger brothers and maybe he gets a little distracted a blonde with a pair of perky…well you get the picture. Well, he does have that Coalson blood running through his veins, after all. This may be a novella but Adams puts in a good bit of hot and fun details. Your toes may be curling by the time your finish with Lucky or when he has had his way with you.
Maggie will leave you with your mouth watering for more yummy Coalson brothers. Marriage and Mayhem will be coming our way in November I hear, and this fan can’t wait! Maggie gets 5 Vegas Stars

Review

Maddie is the daughter of the VP of the Black Shamrocks MC. She has grown up surrounded by strong women and protective men. Mik "Mad Dog" Kennedy, has always been her best friend. She's used to the protection everyone gives her, but needing her freedom, she accepts a date with Brendan that turns into something more. And when Mik makes his feelings known, Brendan's true colors come out, almost taking Maddie's life.

This is Kylie Hillman's debut book and it was great. I was surprised by the way the story was told. Kylie is able to effectively draw me in to a cautionary tale, not just a love story, told from Madeline's perspective. How does a strong independent woman loose herself when she has a solid support system? It doesn't happen overnight. The book the relationship between Maddie and Mik now, as it recalls the volatile relationship four years earlier between her and Brendan.

This was a different kind of MC book, and WOW! It is hard to believe this is Kylie's first book. It was sexy, raw, brutal, and compassionate all rolled into one. I can not wait to read the second book she has planned for this new series. I'm giving this debut book - and this is something I never do with a new author - 5 STARS.

I love MC books. Yes, I'll admit it. Something about a big domineering leader, who demands respect and can make an enemy cower, and then turn around and be so loving and gentle to the woman he loves. Well, that's exactly what I get in this debut novel from Michelle Presley.

The Final Cut centers on Macy Rogers. She's a strong, independent woman who's grown up around the MC life. She owns a string of bars catering to the biker clientele. She has no trouble telling the bikers "NO" when they ask her for a date - until Oak.

Macy knows she's in trouble as soon as she takes her car to the local garage and meets Damien "Oak" McCaffrey. Both are dead set against relationships, which is usually when one will catch unaware.

I loved Michelle's story telling. I'm always looking for different ways for the MC books to be written and Michelle has gotten this series off to a great start. This is a excellent shorter story with a lot of potential for a great series. I'm giving this debut 4 stars!

My Review

*** Although this book can be read as a standalone, as I usually do I HIGHLY recommend that you read at the very least Until July.***

Until Jax picks up immediately after the events of Until July.  Ellie has been taken to the hospital by an overly protective Jax upon discovering her with his cousin July as they were escaping their captors after being kidnapped for the purpose of trafficking.

If you have read the other Until books you know that the Maysens have a BOOM moment when they meet the one they are meant to spend their lives with. Ellie is Jax’s BOOM. However it is not that easy. Ellie has a daughter and she is not used to people being nice to her. She is cautious about who she lets close to her and especially her 3 year old daughter, Hope.  She has major trust issues and rightly so, having her own mother sell you to sex traffickers will do that to a girl.

Can Jax break through the walls that Ellie has put up and make her realize he is not there to hurt her but to protect and love her and Hope?  Can Ellie let Jax in after being hurt so many times in the past?

Until Jax was beautiful, it was more in line with the original Until series because Jax is after all Cash’s son.  Maysen men know what they want and they do not back down even when what they want doesn’t necessarily run into their arms. They are not afraid of a little work, which is good because Jax has his work cut out for him.

I liked the storylines and there was a lot going on in this book but it felt as though the build up to the climax fell flat.  The only real obstacle in the way of Jax and Ellie was Ellie herself.  Everything else seemed to be pretty minor.

Ellie’s daughter Hope was adorable and so bright for a 3 year old she reminds me of a young Jax.  For readers of the original Until Series we see some familiar faces some more enjoyable than others (one word…Jules!)  Until Jax was an enjoyable read and is a good addition to the series.

I give Until Jax

I loved him at fifteen. I thought we’d stand the test of time. He was my forever but maybe I fell too fast or loved him too much. Maybe I came on too strong or maybe I did something wrong. He still left. Turned his back on me without a word. I never thought I’d see him again and to be honest, I didn’t want to. I began to hate him even though he would never know it. But then, I did see him again and with him came the secrets that would forever change all of our lives.

She was only a recurring dream in my foggy unconscious. A voice. A face. We weren’t supposed to dream. We weren’t supposed to remember. They said it was impossible and the before would never come into the now. None of the others remember, at least not that I know of. What I do know is that she was my everything, my every waking breath. Now that I’ve found her I will not be losing her a second time. She will be mine again, no matter what the cost.

Review for The Ascension of Laney

*I was gifted this book for an honest review*

The Ascension of Laney has a great hook to reel you in… who doesn't want to know about the haunted house next door. Especially when a new, hot guys moves in and then just disappears one day without a trace.     Kris has some pretty great characters. Laney is heartbroken college co-ed who has no idea what happened to her first and only love, Kass. As the story progresses she gets spunky, clever and pretty crafty when put in a bad situation. Laney has a lot of emotions to get though when Kass mysteriously pops back into her life. Kass also has a lot to work out when he realizes Laney is his next charge. Kass is handsome, caring, and tough…don’t mess with his girl, Laney. Miguel is the final main character in the story. He is a hard ass, flirt and feisty, and a total meat-head in a fun loving way! You grow to love and care for each of these characters and the challenges they face and will face in the next story.
I found Laney to be a clever character when put under duress. She doesn't fully understand her powers until she is kidnapped. While kidnapped she remembers she can grow grass, so she saves a peach pit and tried to grow an entire tree to produce fruit. Such cleverness and clear headedness can get you out of any crazy situation. Although she is bright character, I felt that when Laney was told about what she was, she didn’t react at all how I thought any logical person would have. She just kind of accepted it and so did her bestie, which I found very odd. I would have expected a lot more emotion or at least they would have freaked out. Speaking of the best friend…she and Miguel get together at some point, but you don’t find out much more after that. I feel like something is missing when I think about those two.
The background of the The Ascension of Laney, Hack has an interesting take on how the angles are made and whole hierarchy. There are different levels of beings…Ascent, Angles, The Fallen, and the Archangels. She even touches on what happens when an angel mates and with whom. I found it intriguing she only mentioned God once, and only briefly. Is God in charge of who becomes an angel? Does he tell the Archangels what to do? What is God’s role in the book? These are questions I had but weren't answered…maybe they will be in book 2.
I rate this book four stars.

My Review

Ultimate Deception by Lynn Stookes kept me up all night, it was one seriously
awesome book. I loved how she intermingled her suspenseful story with passion. It
made truly intriguing read.

When I heard that she was looking for reviewers for this book, I messaged Ms.
Stookes and begged for a chance to review it. Her first book kept me on the egde
of my seat and I didn’t see how she could possibly top it, but OMG, she does. I still
want more from this group of people, and I think that is a good sign of excellent
writing.

These two characters want each other but they are trying to stay apart. They are so
perfect for each other, I was rooting for them the whole time. Ms. Stookes did a
wonderful job of making me fall in love with them and care for them like they
were my friends.

I give Ultimate Deception 5 stars.

My Review

Have you ever just picked up a book and been so drawn in that you did not want put it down?  What about being so engrossed in a book and then the worst should happen and (GASP!) you have to rejoin reality but you cannot stop thinking about the characters you left waiting in limbo while you had to do trivial things like eating, sleeping, parenting, whatever?

Thankfully I can always trust the beautiful storytelling skills of Melanie Harlow to get the full experience and never be left wanting, except for more that is. We again are taken back to Michigan where our heroine Skylar is living back home with her parents after not making a go of her acting career in New York City and doing a reality show stint that may come back to haunt her. Things go from bad to worse for poor Skylar only to find herself face to face with the only thing that could possibly brighten her day, a handsome stranger on the beach. After the day she had she literally falls on her face and the stranger may be handsome but he is not interested in getting to know Skylar and she receives that message loud and clear, repeatedly.

The hot stranger Sebastian is not really all that much of a stranger, he and Skylar went to school together, as much as people would describe his as just plain ole strange. He has changed a lot physically so Sklyar does not recognize him but he sure does recognize her. Unfortunately he meets Skylar again on a bad day and he cannot help himself for being not so nice.

Picture
Once the air is cleared Skylar finds she likes Sebastian and wants to give him her time, but he is not looking for a relationship so she decides to be his friend. Too bad that the chemistry that these two could blow up a building if not contained. Sebastian and Skylar burn up the pages with the sexual magnetism that at some points it makes you feel voyeuristic but just plain hot in all the right places in others.

Picture
Picture
However this story is not just about the hotter than lava sexual attraction that these two have, it is about learning to love one another in spite of each others flaws instead because of those flaws. It is about learning to love yourself and deciding to be happy and in doing so you invite love into your body and soul.

Picture
Picture
I am have been a fan of Ms. Harlow since I read Frenched and I totally loved that entire series, HARD! I loved Sebastian, Skylar, Natalie and the entire supporting cast, especially my fav’s from Detroit (Wink, Wink). All and all this is another great read that is highly recommended for its ability to make you laugh, cry and love all in the same book. I would give this 8 stars if I could, just for Sebastian.

Tank (Savage Saints MC #2) by Carmen Jenner

Synopsis

Killer. Criminal. Sociopath.

All of these words have been used to describe me, and for the longest time I believed that that’s all I was.

I’m the man you call in to clean up your mess, assuming your mess is a guy who needs a bullet to the head. I’m the man the MC calls when they want their dirty work done.

I’m the man who doesn’t feel.

Until now.

Until her.

Now my mess is a woman who won’t save herself. I’ll fight like hell to save her, but at what price to the club? And at what cost to me?

Warning: TANK contains graphic violence, profanity, drug use, and explicit sexual situations that may be a trigger and cause some readers emotional discomfort. Intended for an 18+ audience only. Not intended for pussies.

Donya's Review

Picture
*I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

How do you save someone who is hell bent on ending it all by causing their own self destruction?  Ivy is a club whore, a drug addict with "daddy issues". At least that is who everyone else sees - except for TANK. He sees someone he's not worthy to have, but he's the kind of man to take what he wants, and he's tired of waiting on Ivy to see him and get clean. But what starts as trying to clean up the junkie once and for all, leads Tank to discover all of Ivy's dark and twisted secrets.

This story left me with a book hangover. I literally had to take a couple of days to decompress. Carmen's newest book left me in much the same way that KICK did - totally gutted. TANK had my heart, but watching the interaction with his mother, and he took my soul too.

Ivy was such a strong female character. I think that's why I gravitate to Carmen's books. Ivy seems so frail and a lost cause until you see everything she has had to endure alone, and you see the strength she has. Reading this book put me on a roller coaster ride of emotions - if you're looking for laughter, it's not here. If you're looking for a dark, gut-wrenching explosion of pain, then be prepared.
I'm giving TANK - 5 stars!!!

Mel's Review

Picture
*Graciously received a copy in exchange for an honest review

How do you even describe such and emotional ride? I loved everything about TANK when he was first introduced in KICK, the 1st book in the Savage Saints MC series, and could not wait to read what Carmen Jenner had in store for Tank and Ivy's story. However, I was stunned, emotions were sky high and even though I thought I was prepared, I wasn't. I was all over the place emotion wise.

I need to start at the beginning...
KICK was gritty, hard, and dark and I thought I handled it really well because when I say dark, I mean abusive and harsh and lots of violence. I loved it and I thought and  have to admit, I did not think TANK could be as good. I mean KICK is amazing and I would strongly recommend that it be read first, but I was so wrong. TANK stands tall and I think I love him even more than KICK which I did not think possible.

TANK is gut wrenching but yet has such an soft quality when you see happenings through his eyes.  Ms. Jenner transforms this killer character into almost a hero, a broken hero but a hero non the less. I can not explain it but Tank just makes everything tolerable.

Ivy, is a whore and a junkie, and all around crazy but I was rooting for her. When every fiber in my body wanted to hate her, I wound up loving her and just wanted her to be successful in life.

I can not tell you how much I adore this series. I strongly recommend it to all but it does deal with really harsh subjects. At times I almost could not stomach some of the issues but if you know what you are getting into... ride the ride! It is scary and thrilling and nauseating but when I finished, I was exhilarated and only wanted more.

Tank by Carmen Jenner receives 5 out 5 stars....

Review

This is a must read for any fan of historical romance novels. Ruby Merritt does a phenomenal service to 1870’s time period. She gives beautiful descriptions and is able to show deep emotions in her characters.

I love strong heroines and Lena is a strong woman! She may not know this but Merritt showed us this through Lena’s actions. Lena's innocence was stolen 6 years ago and she is returning home for the first time. You can still feel her fear, every time a man gets close she flinches. She pushes through her own pain and helps others that are going through the same thing that happen to her.

Lucas is a swoon worthy trial lawyer and running from something himself. He is a true gentleman. He struggles with the guilt from a past that he wishes he could leave behind. He really wants to make the territory that they are all living a better place to live- safer.

You won't want to miss this excellent portrayal of another lifetime, things were simpler but not safer.  I give Lena’s Courage 5 stars.

Ruby Merritt writes historical western romance. Her passion for imagining life and love on the High Plains has its roots in reading and rereading Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House books as a child.

Although Ruby doesn't call the High Plains her home, she resides in an equally beautiful and rustic locale, The Gateway to the Texas Hill Country.

When Ruby's not reading or writing, she can be found riding her horse or homeschooling her children who are avid horsewomen and readers as well.

Review:

Fractured Affections by Elizabeth Wills is an exceptionally well written debut novel. She has captured a wonder array of emotions and described them in vivid detail.
Fractured Affections is a slightly different love story, it’s a love that has stood the test of time and is selfless. It’s the kind of love that one person’s happiness is more important than your own.
From the beginning of Fractured Affections, you get the feeling that something is going on, just beneath the surface. The emotional anxiety of a stress situation is there but you aren’t really told about it. You can feel all of worry the main character throughout the book. It’s what kept me turning pages.
Wills left us on a bluff-hanger, (my made up word- a little less than an actual cliff J ) where we WANT that next book. We WANT to know more about these characters. ***Isn’t that a sign of a GREAT book?
I loved this book and I can’t wait for book two! I’ll probably be stalking this author, maybe to the point of hounding her for the next installment.
Much Love! 5 stars
