Title: Desolation
Series: Jokers' Wrath MC #4
Author: Bella Jewel
 Release Date: April 27, 2015

Synopsis

Pippa.

The girl you all know as damaged. Quiet. Broken.

She doesn’t fit in. Nothing in her world feels right. She’s trapped in a spiral of darkness that seems to be consuming her day by day, until she sees nothing but an empty, black hole.

Her world is a broken place she can’t escape.

She has people around her who matter. Who love her. But it’s not enough. Not enough to break her out of the bitter despair she lives in.

Until Tyke.

He knows pain. He knows darkness. He’s sweet. He’s kind. But most of all…

He understands her.

Combining their demons doesn’t seem like the best plan. Everyone is against them. He deserves better. She deserves better. They’ll never work. They’re too broken. Too damaged. It’s a destructive combination that will only end in heartbreak.

He’s a biker. She’s a broken angel.

But in their desolation, they will find peace.

With each other.

Review

*I was given a copy for an honest review!

Desolation is the fourth and final book in Bella Jewel's Jokers' Wrath series. Pippa is the petite in stature, broken in spirit sister to Santana. Tyke is the one member of the club that she not only considers her best friend but she's also secretly in love with.

I loved Pippa's character and while some may think Pippa was a bit naive and almost too innocent, I felt that due to the trauma she endured, that she was showing her growth and maturing. Tyke would not even cross the line into feeling anything for Pippa until she found her voice to tell him to stop treating her like a child and told him exactly what she wanted. Probably the best scene was Pippa having a stand-off with Maddox over Tyke. Talk about a "china doll vs a bull".

I enjoyed Bella's book and it was worth the wait. My only concern were questions I still needed answers to - who was Raide,  will Rainer be okay, who was Ingro, and does Max find Belle - but Bella did not disappoint and now I'm waiting patiently on these characters' stories. I'm giving Desolation a solid 4-stars.

Gypsy (Sons of Sangue #3) by Patricia A. Rasey

Picture
Grayson “Gypsy” Gabor loves the ladies. As a matter of fact, the more the merrier. Life is good. That is until a mishap with a sexy as hell redhead leaves them mated. The eldest of vampires, Vlad Tepes, gives him a choice: keep her or give her up for all eternity to his one-time best friend, Anton.

Tamera Cantrell sets her sights on the Vice President of the Sons of Sangue, Gypsy. One night gone wrong, and she finds herself in the middle of one vampire who hates her and one who adores her. She’s left with three months to prove to the one who despises her that he can’t live without her.

Add in one Mexican Cartel, a vindictive primordial vampire, and a rival MC out for blood, and Gypsy has his hands full with club business. When Tamera’s life becomes endangered, Gypsy must act quick or chance losing her forever.

EXCLUSIVE Excerpt:

Tamera let out a sigh and prepared for battle. It always was with Grayson. “What do you want, Gypsy?”

“Now that’s no way to treat your mate.”

“Then maybe you need to act like one.”

His nostrils flared, his obsidian gaze traveling the length of her.

“Don’t tempt me.”

Tamera laughed, feeling none of the humor. “That’s rich, Gypsy. I could strip naked and lay in that bed and you still wouldn’t act like a mate. So what is your real reason for being here?”

“Blondy.”

“What about him?”

“Stay the fuck away from him.”

“Are you serious? You don’t want me. You’ve made that perfectly clear.” Tamera’s voice trembled in her rising ire. “Vlad isn’t giving me much of a choice here. It’s you or Blondy. And you have made it perfectly clear you don’t want in on that equation.”

“You are still my mate until I say otherwise.”

“Since when have I been anything other than a thorn in your side?”

“E così vero, it is so true, il mio dolce rossa.”

Tamera hated when he called her my sweet red. It was a wasted term of endearment. His gaze traveled about the room, no doubt seeing little change. Tamera had been careful not to put her stamp on the place. She wanted Grayson to be able to move back in without his room being a constant reminder of her as the previous occupant should she be given to Anton. He shouldn’t have to suffer for her actions. Even though she wished Grayson would pick her, she certainly couldn’t fault him if he didn’t. That didn’t mean she would make his decision easy for him. Hell no, she would fight him every step of the way.

His black eyes landed on the unmade bed and stayed a long moment before glancing back at her. “You haven’t taken communion.”

It wasn’t a question, it was an accusation. She crossed her arms over her breasts, trying damn hard to ignore the fact his desire had kicked up when he had taken in the satin sheets. The scent of human blood all over him overshadowed that of his rising lust. He hadn’t bothered cleaning up before entering his old domain. Normally, he wouldn’t have come near his old room while she occupied it. Why now?

“Like you care.”

“I’m not heartless, il mio dolce rossa.”

Tamera let out a harrumph. “You could’ve fooled me.”

“Never doubt that I desire you. That has never been an issue.” He took the last few steps separating them, leaving only a hand’s width between them. He leaned down, close enough his breath fanned her cheeks. “Trust me, il mio dolce rossa, I would much rather fuck you than stand here arguing with you.”

Tears welled in her eyes. “You’re quite the romantic. You sure know how to woo a woman.”

“There is nothing romantic about my intentions where you’re concerned.”

Grayson’s lips were but a breath away from touching hers, and God help her, she wanted to taste him, no matter how crude he treated her. And damn if she didn’t hate herself for it.

“Then why not take what you want?” Tamera fisted her hands at her sides to keep from reaching out and touching him. “You and I both know I would never deny you. I’m already yours.”

The infuriating vampire growled, but instead took a step back. She felt the separation like a bucket of ice water. “Don’t mistake my desire for anything other than it is, Tamera. No matter what my dick wants, my heart still hates you.”

She couldn’t have stopped the tears from falling if she tried. The last thing she wanted was to give Grayson her dignity, and yet she had just handed it to him. Her heart ached at his beauty, beauty which would always be denied her. He really was a son of a bitch. She wanted to hate him, return his scorn. Yet, she only felt the heartache.

Another knock sounded on the door. Grayson’s gaze stayed focused on hers. “Come in,” he growled his response.

A young female donor walked into the room. Too cute for Tamera’s liking. She grit her aching teeth as she watched Grayson’s eyes roam over the petite young blonde, the complete opposite of her. Bastard. Tamera thought he meant to feed from the woman, right there in front of her, but instead he walked beyond the donor and said over his shoulder, “Eat,” before he quit the room.

Tamera collapsed to the bed, no longer having the energy to stand. But before she could succumb to tears, the young donor walked over, knelt between her spread knees and tilted her head to the side, offering Tamera her artery. She could no longer deny herself. Grasping the woman’s neck in one hand, Tamera sank her fangs into the donor’s flesh and drew in deep, mimicking the donor’s moan at the first taste of the woman’s blood.

Review

*I was given a copy of this book for an Honest review.

I have been a fan of Patricia A. Ramsey's Sons of Sangue series from the very beginning. I mean, descendants of Vlad, the father of vampires, who are in a motorcycle club - two of the best genres out come together in one! What is not to love? Gypsy picks up where Hawk ends. Grayson "Gypsy" Gabor has found himself tricked in having a mate - Tamera Cantrell - that he never wanted.

When Gypsy doesn't stay with her through the change and Anton does, Vlad, their ultimate leader, gives him an ultimatum - he has one year to be mated to her or Tamera will become Anton's mate. But Tamera wants Gypsy, and Anton wants her happy.

Poor Gypsy! I love a man who is jealous and doesn't know what to do about it! But you take an Alpha male biker, who happens to be a vampire, and I can't get enough watching him squirm!

This can be read as a standalone but I will suggest reading these books in order. Patricia's world of vampires is unique and different and I enjoy reading every one of her books! Gypsy is no exception and the steam between Tamera and Gypsy could fog up a mirror without the shower being on. I give Gypsy a steamy 5!

Despite initial hesitancy, he has learned to handle every case with care and he now basks in the afterglow of new-found love and relishes in the energy it provides him. But his end goal is still the promise of paradise in return for his penance.

It's all going according to plan until he receives an assignment that is inconceivable to him. He has to find a mate for Becca, within whom lives the reincarnated soul of his one true love. Bound by his duty to find her a match, he must resist her charm and suppress his own desires. It is his job and he cannot fail, even if his own paradise now seems lost.

For a cupid, falling in love is against the rules.

Isn't it?

Amy's Review:

Happily Evan After is a sweet, funny and well written second chance story that proves that true love can endure even death.

Evan is a reluctant cupid who is charged with finding people their perfect match, even though at first he does not want to, he eventually gives in and does what he is charged to do with the expectation of paradise at the end of his servitude.

Becca is Evans latest assignment and even though he is struck by her uncanny resemblance to his one true love Rose, (not to mention the fact that she has Rose's soul) he sets off to find her perfect match. He is not prepared for the emotions he feels as it has been 50 years since he has experienced them.

Becca is a strong female lead who does not NEED a man but wants one share her life with, and I found this beyond refreshing.

Evan and Becca not to mention the supporting cast Cathy (Becca's BFF) and Drew (the guy Becca is dating) are all well written and well developed characters.

This a great lazy day read. It is a true stand alone and there is no cliffhanger (thank goodness)

Double Dare (Neighbor from Hell #6) by R.L. Mathewson

Marybeth still couldn’t believe that she’d survived this long with a friend like Darrin, but somehow she’d managed to beat the odds and not give in to temptation and smother him with a pillow while he slept.

Of course some days were more difficult than others…

For twenty years he’s been biding his time, waiting for the right moment to make his move and now that it was here…
He couldn’t seem to stop screwing up.

Author’s Note:

Every NFH novel is written so that it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone book with the exception of this one. When I started writing Double Dare it wasn’t meant to coincide with The Game Plan, but it does. So, if you haven’t read The Game Plan, you may want to wait until after you do so that you can fully enjoy this book.

Synopsis

We all have that someone we can’t forget, the summer it all began, and the sleepless nights wondering what went wrong.

For Gage Montgomery, that someone is Layla Baxter. When he was 18, he took one look at the chocolate-haired bookworm with porcelain skin and knew his life would never be the same. But it all came crashing down when Layla suddenly and mysteriously disappeared from St. Simons Island -- leaving him with nothing but her angel wing pendent around his neck. For 12 long years, Gage couldn’t shake what happened, if he’s the one to blame, wondering where Layla might be. When their paths finally cross, he’s determined to get the answers he’s spent his life searching for -- and to get the girl, too. Quiet Angel is a story of hope, survival, and lost love made new again.

“I missed you, too, but you were never far.” Gage touched his shirt with the wings inside. “You were always there.”

*I was given this book for an honest review.

This is a beautiful and empowering story! It also has a great message to women and girls who have been abused in the past or know someone that has! This book starts of with a summer love.....one we wish we all had! Gage and Layla are perfect characters. They are both strong, demanding and romantic. Layla has a sad and disquieting past; while Gage has the perfect life.... almost.

Quiet Angel made my eyes mist up several times. It is sweet romantic story, filled with anger and pain.  This is a book I would probably read again down the road and find myself recommending to others. Layla and Gage’s life together is loving and pure! I rate this book a 5!

It was an innocent mistake…

All workaholic real estate broker Addison Andrews wanted was one night of pleasure, and picking the right guy was no different than shopping from a catalog thanks to the dating app on her phone. All it takes is one bite of forbidden fruit to become addicted, but being with him has major consequences for their entire family. But Wilder Van Cleef doesn’t care about the possibility of a scandal. He wants her, and he’s willing to do whatever it takes.

Addison is a successful real estate agent in New York City and a workaholic. She doesn't have time to date or be in a relationship so she goes on a dating site to find someone she can meet for a one night stand. She sees Wilder's profile pic and decides to contact him. They agree to meet for one hour of sex only... no last names exchanged... no personal info revealed.
After their first time together, Wilder decides he wants to continue to meet for "sex only" every Friday night. After some initial reservation on Addison's part, they begin a "friends with benefits" arrangement. It's not long before feelings develop on both sides but there are outside influences that make Addison resistant to admitting how she feels.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I found Addison and Wilder to be extremely likeable. I know that the market is over saturated with "stepbrother romances," but this one is different. It's not just about the "stepbrother" issue. Both, Addison and Wilder have emotional baggage from their previous relationships which affects their relationship. I felt that the "stepbrother" portion of the book was a fairly small part. There's a lot of great story before that even becomes an issue.
I love that we got dual points of view throughout the story. Wilder is so hot and sweet. Did I mention how incredibly hot and alpha he is? Addison is a total control freak and every aspect of her life, aside from Wilder, is planned out. When the two of them get together it shakes up her organized existence.
I'm giving Never Kiss a Stranger 5 stars and I'm looking forward to reading the next book about Coco, Addison's sister

Review

I'm a huge K.A. Linde fan so it's no surprise that I loved this book! Diamonds is the first book in a new series and is a bit of a departure from what we normally expect from her.
Bryna, a seventeen year old daughter of a well known movie Director, is the "It" girl at her high school. She is the captain of the cheerleading team and she is dating Gates, a Hollywood movie star. She meets an older man, Jude, at a nightclub and begins a secret relationship with him. I can't really say too much more than that because I don't want to reveal any of the surprises this book delivers.
I wasn't sure how I felt about Bryna when I first started to read this book but as I learned more about her, she grew on me! I'm looking forward to the next book in this series. It will be interesting to see if Bryna matures and becomes less selfish and materialistic. I also want to know what the future holds for her in terms of romance!
I'm giving this book 5 stars!
