Hi! Thank you!
My book is called “Girls” and it’s a young adult novel about human trafficking. It’s a story that shows the dangers of human trafficking, but it also highlights the reality of high school and the need to have friends.
What does your writing process look like?
I write almost every day. I usually make an outline for my story and then go off of that for the story. Even though I have an outline I sometimes change the way a story is going to go while I’m writing.
Do you have any strange writing habits (like standing on your head or writing in the shower)?
haha! No, I don’t do any of that. I do think of a lot of what I’m going write when I’m not writing though. Random things will inspire me.. a flower, or a quote I hear someone passing by on the street saying. I incorporate a lot of everyday things into my stories.
What book do you wish you could have written?
Harry Potter! But doesn’t every author wish that?
How important are names to you in your books?
I hate names!! I’m horrible at picking out names! I do think they are somewhat important, but a name doesn’t make a character. I want my characters to be like everyday people, and people are given names before their personalities are ever shown. However, I will say in my next book that one of the characters names is extremely relevant to the story.
What do you consider to be your best accomplishment?
Marrying my wife. Absolutely.
Were you already a great writer? Have you always like to write?
I would like to think I’ve always been a great writer, but that’s not for me to say. I have always loved the write though.
What writing advice do you have for other aspiring authors?
Read every day and write every day! Those two things are so important!
Do you read your reviews? Do you respond to them, good or bad? Do you have any advice on how to deal with the bad?
I do read my reviews, but I rarely respond to them unless it’s to thank them for reviewing. I think ignoring the bad reviews, and looking at the good ones is the best way to handle the bad reviews.
What's your next project?
I don’t want to give too much away yet, but my next novel will be coming out around August and will be another YA novel.
