Amy Daws is the author of the London Bound series. She is a total goof ball and she not ashamed to show everyone how silly she is. She loves taking selfies and she even raps - YES, I SAID RAPS - Check it out! We had a hard time doing it but we finally managed to tie her down and get an interview done. Whew! I seriously think she wore me out!!!
Hmm...I have an idea! You need bathtub crayons. That way you can write on wall until you can write it in the laptop! Okay, now - since we're a blog, we have to ask this one - Do you read your reviews? Do you respond to them, good or bad? Do you have any advice on how to deal with the bad?
I am unabashedly obsessed with my reviews. They make or break my day. I’m so freaking insecure it’s not even funny and reading reviews is like a form of emotional cutting that I just can’t stop. For the most part, my books are well liked, so it’s not too bloody. I never respond to them unless I know the blogger personally…and even then, I only respond if they are positive. If they are negative, that’s their prerogative and their right…there’s not need to have a discussion about it. Reading is 100% subjective. Not everyone is going to like the same thing.
What's your next project?
Most likely book 4 in the London Lovers Series…though my memoir, Chasing Hope has a sequel that needs to be written and it’s finally starting to call to me now. However, I’ve recently toyed with the idea of writing a novella for a special fan favorite. J
Yay! Write it - write it!! Wait...where are those crayons...here you go - Go take a shower and start writing. Dang it! Before you go, we got a couple more question. If you could live one month on T.V., like it was your real life, which show would like to live on?
NEW GIRL!!! OMG I love those crazy guys Jess lives with! And Jess…I would kill to get drunk and create a play about woodland creatures. That sounds like the perfect Saturday night to me.
Who's that girl, Who's that girl, it's AMY! Tell us about a unique or quirky habit of yours.
I write at night…usually most of the night. If I’m feeling sleepy while writing, I’ll go to the gas station in my PJs and slippers and get a fountain Diet Coke. The fresh air and the fizzy pop revitalizes me!
Okay, well at least you wear slippers. It could be worse. I mean thank goodness it's not like a footie superman pajama with a cape - right? Oh, sorry, back to the interview, as a child, what did you wish to become when you grew up?
I wanted to be a Sitcom writer. Probably why I love NEW GIRL so much! I’m not doing sitcoms, but romance novels with a good amount of humor in them seem to be close enough to make me happy!
I can seriously see you as a sitcom writer, but then we would miss out on your books. What was your favorite decade? (50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, etc.)
70s classic rock is my JAM!! The clothing was terrible but the music more than made up for it.
I'm now wondering if she sings "Rock and Roll All Night, and Party Every Day" when she goes in the gas station in her PJs. Uh, oh. I can see her thinking now. Amy, what is your favorite dessert?
Crème brulee….yum, with a nice cup of black coffee. I’ll take a scoop of crème brulee and dip it in my cup of coffee…it’s the perfect mix.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I would love to not have to sleep. I have way too many hobbies and never enough time in the day to get them all done. So I figure, if I was like a vamp and never needed to sleep, I could get to all of them. TV shows, reading, writing, rapping…oh yeah. J I rap.
From 70's rock to rap - LOL! What is your favorite unusual food combination is:
Doritos and cottage cheese. You just load up that big triangle of a chip with a heaping pile of cottage cheese…YUM. I swear. Don’t knock it til you try it!
I think I just upchucked a little, no I'm just kidding! I love Frito's and dill pickle chips. Can you fake any accents?
Yes! And I’m really really good at them! LOL Actually I’m not, but I love love love trying. I’ve write a series based in London, so I’ve been known to post many of British accent selfie videos on my author page. I really don’t get embarrassed!
What makes you unique?
I think what makes me unique is my ability to laugh at myself. I’m somewhat known for my dumb selfie videos that I post on Facebook during my British accent or counting down the days til Colleen Hoover gives away a copy of my book. It’s fun! Anyone that has a laugh over something I say or do just makes my day!
I love saying I’m a nobody from nowhere because it’s the truth. Writing books is fun for me. Having people actually enjoy them is still impossible for me to wrap my head around! I intend to never lose that.
